Opportunities in the work place could support progression to the Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in Management, the Level 5 Higher Apprenticeship in Management & Leadership, the Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in Business & Professional Administration, further or higher education to undertake management, business or other qualifications, including; Foundation Degrees in Management & Leadership, Business and Business Management a range of management, business and other undergraduate programmes, a range of management and other professional qualifications at level 4 and above.

With additional training, advanced apprentices may be able to progress in their careers to roles including middle and senior manager, department manager, head of department, or a wide range of managerial roles within business. (CFA, 2015)

What will I study?

The Diploma in Management is a combined qualification that develops practical skills as well as providing theory to improve knowledge and understanding in the context of Leadership and Management.
You will complete the following mandatory:
- Principles of Leadership and Management
- Principles of People Management
- Principles of Business
- Employee Rights and Responsibilities
- Promote Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace
- Manage Individual's Performance
- Manage Conflict within a Team
- Collaborate with other Departments
- Manage Individuals Development in the Workplace
- Health and Safety Procedures in the Workplace
- Chair and Lead Meetings
- Manage Personal Performance and Professional Development
- Manage Team Performance

In addition you will develop valuable skills in English, Maths and ICT along with polishing your Personal Learning and Thinking skills.

How will this course be delivered?

The apprenticeship combines regular one to one tutorials, independent study and 'on the job' learning. You will benefit from ongoing support and guidance from your assessor and will have 24/7 access to your online portfolio. You may be required to attend Functional Skills workshops for Maths, English and ICT depending on your previous achievements. Workshops are approx. 2 hours per week and are available at various times at both college campuses. An e-learning route is also available if you are unable to attend college.

Your employer plays a huge part in the apprenticeship process as this is where you will spend the majority of your time and where you will get the 'hands on' working experience. Your employer will ensure that you get appropriate 'on the job' training and support and will ensure that you have the opportunity to carry out relevant workplace activities.

What qualifications will I get?

Level 3 Diploma in Management
Level 2 Functional Skills English
Level 2 Functional Skills Maths
Level 2 Functional Skills in ICT

How will I be assessed?

Your assessor will support you to showcase your work in an easy to use e-portfolio. A range of methods will be chosen to assess your vocational knowledge and competence and may include: observations, professional discussions, verbal or written questions, assignments, presentations, work products, reflective accounts, witness testimonies and more!

Functional Skills are assessed via examination - tests are booked throughout the year on demand.

How do I get a place on the course?

Apprenticeship vacancies are advertised on our website and you can follow the instructions to apply online. The vacancies provide detailed information about the employer, the job role, location, hours of work and salary/benefits. As part of the application process you will be asked to create an account with the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS).
After the closing date the employer will choose to interview suitable applicants. We work closely with our employers and will make arrangements to enrol the successful applicant within their first few weeks of work.

What are the entry requirements?

You must be in a job role which has responsibility for leading and managing people. All applicants are required to complete initial assessments in literacy and numeracy which ensures fair access to assessment. A minimum of Level 1 in English and Maths is normally required. Learners who do not meet this requirement will receive advice and guidance on developing these skills prior to reapplying. You cannot apply for an Advanced Apprenticeship in Management if you already hold a qualification at level 4 (or above) or, if you have previously completed a level 3 NVQ or Certificate in Leadership and Management.

What else do I need to know?

Check the website daily for new vacancies.
You must be prepared to invest some of your own time (outside of work) to study towards your apprenticeship.
You will be entitled to apply for an Apprentice NUS card.
You will have full access to all college facilities.
You will receive free student membership to a leading professional body in Leadership & Management for the duration of your apprenticeship.

What can I do after this course?

Every apprentice has an exit review upon completion of their course and next steps are discussed ad appropriate advice and guidance will be given
