A Level Success at Solihull College
August 2009
Solihull College has scored its best ever A Level results this year.
Students and staff will be celebrating today as results reveal a 100% pass rate in 13 of the College’s A Level subjects including Maths, Biology, Physics and English Language and Literature.
The overall achievement rate of students is 98% which is up 4% on last year with a number of students achieving grade A in three or more subjects.
Local student Stephanie Brett, a former Alderbrook School pupil, is among the high achievers and is celebrating after gaining grade As in all of the four subjects she studied – English, History, General Studies and Sociology.
Stephanie said:
“I’m elated with my results, I wasn’t expecting them at all. I’ve put a lot of time and hard work into studying and I’m so pleased that it has paid off. I’ve always wanted to be a teacher and my results mean that I can fulfil my ambition. I’m going to study English in Education at the University of Birmingham, I can’t wait.”
College Principal, Brenda Sheils is also thrilled with this year’s results:
“ Our students have achieved the best A level results we have ever had and we are delighted for them. They and their tutors have worked hard to achieve some stunning results, with many students excelling from quite modest achievements when they joined the College at 16, and now firmly on the road to successful careers.” they said.
This year’s AS results are also up on last year with 100% pass rates in a number of subjects including English Language and Literature.
