Where will this course lead?
This course is ideal for you if you are currently working in accountancy or finance or want to work in accountancy or finance.
What will I study?
Basic Accounting 1
Basic Accounting 2
Computerised Accounting (Sage Line 50)
Working Effectively in Accounting and Finance
Basic Costing
Professional Ethics (Apprentices Only)
How will this course be delivered?
Lessons will involve workshops, lectures, group work, directed study, computer packages, tutorials and individual work.
What qualifications will I get?
Certificate in Accounting (QCF)
How will I be assessed?
To pass this qualification you will complete online exams and computer based tests.
How do I get a place on the course?
Places are offered by interviews only. It may be possible to conduct some interviews over the telephone depending upon your existing qualifications and experience.
What are the entry requirements?
You need to have achieved GCSE English and Maths grade C or above. If you do not have GCSE's you can sit a diagnostic test to assess your literacy and numeracy. This will let us see if you will be able to meet the entry requirements .
If you have a Learning Difficulty or Disability please let us know when you apply. You will be offered support in your interview.
What else do I need to know?
The standard course runs from September to June, fast track options may be available running from September to December or January to June.
A minimum of 90% attendance is expected.
Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.
What can I do after this course?
Students who are successful on this course can gain suitable positions in an accounting / financial environment or gain promotion within their organisation.
Successful students who meet the attendance requirements will be offered a place on the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting.
