Where will this course lead?
This course is an introduction into animal/veterinary nursing and will prepare learners for a career in animal care or vet nursing within a veterinary practice.
What will I study?
A range of small animal core and optional units
Maths, English and IT will be an important part of your course. You will continue to develop these skills and will work towards a qualification at an appropriate level.
How will this course be delivered?
You will attend college for two days per week.
What qualifications will I get?
Certificate for Animal Nursing Assistants (QCF)
How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed using a variety of methods; knowledge and understanding through assignments, practical work and one extended examination.
How do I get a place on the course?
You will need to attend an interview.
What are the entry requirements?
Minimum qualifications for this course are:
- Two GCSE passes at Grade D or above in Science, English or Maths
- To support your application you will need a suitable character or tutor reference and a copy of your latest school report (if applicable)
- A successful interview
- Mature students are welcomed.

What can I do after this course?
This course can lead to an animal nursing career within the industry or allow progression onto the RCVS Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing.
Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
You will need to provide a pair of steel toe cap boots and purchase a college boiler suit. Price on application.
