Where will this course lead?
This course is ideal for you if are 19+ and wish to develop a career in Graphic Design or a related area and wish to prepare for a higher education/university course in the area of Graphic Design
What will I study?
You will get an introduction to:
research,
visualising,
computer graphics,
layout,
typography,
editorial design, drawing ,
painting ,
packaging, presentation,
design history
exhibition planning
How will this course be delivered?
You will be based in our new art and design studios and you will work on practical projects which will help you to develop your existing skills and learn new ones.
What qualifications will I get?
Access to Higher Education Diploma: Graphic Design - Solihull College
How will I be assessed?
All assignments are internally assessed and verified and then externally examined and moderated
How do I get a place on the course?
Places are offered by interview. You will be asked to bring along some of your artwork to show us.
What are the entry requirements?
Students must be 19+.
No formal qualifications are required but students must display the potential ability and commitment to get the most out of their studies.
If you have a Learning Difficulty or Disability please let us know when you apply. You will be offered support in your interview.
What else do I need to know?
You will be able to go on visits to art galleries, museums and places of interest during the course.
Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.
What can I do after this course?
Progression from this course is normally into higher education on to an HND, Foundation Degree or BA Hons in Graphic Design or a related subject. This could lead to careers in advertising, publicity, graphic design, packaging design multimedia design and teaching.
Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
You will need to provide all basic drawing and painting materials and equipment; this is normally purchased from us as a basic kit at the beginning of the year. Paper is normally bought on a day to day basis from the Art & Design shop. You will also need to provide any additional stationary which is required for your course.
You will also be expected to contribute to any trips and visits you go on.
