Where will this course lead?
This nine month programme is for adults who have been out of full time education for some time and who wish to further their studies in a Business related subject. It provides the underpinning skills to enable students to return to the world of learning by building the skills and confidence necessary for success in Higher Education and future career progression in Business. Successfully completing an Access programme will allow you to go on to study for a Degree, a Foundation Degree, a HND or a HNC. We welcome applications from students who completed their secondary education some years ago and now wish to improve their academic skills prior to attending university.
What will I study?
There are three modules and each module has five units divided between two semesters. The modules are Business Studies, Management and Marketing and Business and Information Technology. You will also study Mathematics up to Level 2 and English up to Level 3. Tutorials and study skills offer support for those who have been out of education for some time.
How will this course be delivered?
The course will be delivered at Blossomfield campus and your timetable will include 20-25 hours of study per week over a 4 day period. Generally classes will start no earlier than 9:15 am and finish no later than 5:00pm. However, it is unlikely you would have more than 1 or 2 full days of 9:15 to 5:00pm.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is continuous throughout the course with a variety of written assignments, presentations, timed essays, discussions and examinations.
How do I get a place on the course?
An interview is required to join this course.
What are the entry requirements?
There are no formal requirements.
What else do I need to know?
A 100% attendance will be expected and a minimum of 6 hours additional study time will be required.
Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.
What can I do after this course?
The majority of students who are successful on this course progress into Higher Education.
Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
A reading list will be provided so that you can borrow/purchase relevant text books. You will also need folders, paper, stationery, a USB stick to back up your work and a calculator.
