Traditionally there has been one main route to university - achieving a set number of entry qualifications, usually A Levels, at particular grades. Today, Higher Education is more flexible and accessible.
If you want to take a particular course but don't have the necessary qualifications - there are alternatives to consider.
Access to Higher Education is for students, aged 19 and over, who wish to study a university-level programme but do not have the necessary entry qualifications.
Access Programmes offer flexible, part-time learning designed to fit in with adults' busy lifestyles. It can be spread over one or two years through full or part-time study hours. Tutorials and study groups form a central part of the course and offer the support most people need.
Solihull Collegeoffers training courses for those living or working in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Warwickshire or other areas of the West Midlands
"The Access programme was a fast track route to University. It also fitted in with my work schedule. For me, University was always my end goal. The teaching staff were friendly and approachable. They encouraged and helped us to develop into independent learners. I am now studying Law and Business at Warwick University and my long-term goal is to qualify as a lawyer."
Joel Treanor, Access to Business with IT
