We want students at Solihull College to achieve their full learning potential and we know that college life is about more than just studying. So whether you’re looking for fun or relaxation make the most of your college experience at Solihull College.
Student Liaison team
Our Student Liaison team plan trips, activities, sport and themed weeks to make sure that your time outside of lessons is as interesting and exciting as possible.
Trips & events
The Student Liaison team organise a range of trips and events for our students to ensure they get the most out of college life. Students’ have been on trips everywhere from The Clothes Show, Alton Towers and paintballing to Drayton Manor and shopping and sightseeing in London. Every year they also organise our fun Freshers' Fayres as well as events around Black History Month, Children in Need and Comic Relief.
Sports
You can take part in a range of sporting activities such as cricket, football, badminton, table tennis and basketball. There is also an opportunity to take part in an outdoor pursuit’s weekend where you can take part in a range of activities such as climbing, canoeing and hill walking.
Student Council
We invite students to become representatives for their courses at Student Council. A similar system operates for our Higher Education courses. Students are also represented at Governing Body level with two Student Governors elected to give a vital student perspective on the running of the College. When you join the College your tutors, staff in Student Services and the Student Liaison Team will provide you with information on the ways that you can broaden your experience by getting involved as a student representative and in our programme of enrichment and volunteering activities.
We look forward to seeing you make a difference!
Student Ambassadors
The student ambassadors’ support the work of the College Marketing team by playing a vital role in promoting the College and showing prospective students and other visitors all that Solihull College has to offer. The ambassador’s work is varied – from staffing a stand at a careers fair, giving a presentation at a school assembly to showing groups around the College campuses. The ambassador programme offers experiences that will develop students’ public speaking and team work skills and build upon their confidence and communication skills.
Students will have the opportunity to apply to become a student ambassador at the beginning of the academic year so look out for information on how to apply!
Information, advice and opportunities
The Student Liaison Team also provide access to a College nurse, offer informal sessions on drug awareness and sexual health and provide volunteering opportunities.
