Where will this course lead?
The Diploma in Business, Administration and Finance is ideally suited to learners' who are wishing to develop an understanding of what business is all about, with a core emphasis on accountancy. Not only will this course provide a solid grounding in business skills but a third of the modules studied are focused on accountancy. It also develops your English, IT and Maths skills so that your career opportunities are enhanced.
The Advanced Diploma in Business, Administration and Finance is equivalent to 3.5 A levels from A - E depending upon your final grade.
What will I study?
Key areas of study over the two years will include:
Administration
Starting a business
Marketing
Economics
Finance
Customer service
Event management
Career development.
These units run alongside 6 units of finance and accountancy ranging from cost and management accounts to advanced book keeping. You also develop your research skills on a topic of your own choice.
Maths, English and IT will be an important part of your course. You will continue to develop these skills and will work towards a qualification at an appropriate level.
How will this course be delivered?
Part of this course involves practical assignments, which will include a two week work placement and the other half is in the classroom.

How will I be assessed?
To pass this course you will need to complete a variety of assessment methods, to include controlled assessments, coursework, practical assessments and some external exams.
How do I get a place on the course?
Places are offered by interview with the course tutors, this can be over the telephone or face to face depending upon what best suits your circumstances. There is also a taster day in early September to allow you to experience the course as well before committing.
What are the entry requirements?
Minimum qualifications:
GCSE grades equivalent to 5Cs, including English and Maths, are required and a successful interview

What else do I need to know?
As part of the course you will attend 2 weeks work placement in an Accounting department / business.
Attendance for this course will be 4 days a week, starting on some days at 9.00 and finishing no later than 17.00.
Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.
What can I do after this course?
Students who are successful on this course can progress on to higher education studying at degree level. Whilst other students have progressed on to an apprenticeship in Accountancy.
Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
To help cover the cost of trips to local businesses, which are an essential part of your studies, £25 is requested from all students at the start of the course
