Animals and gardens equal a bloomin’ great day out
Solihull College is teaming up with the Solihull Open Gardens group to give families across the borough a great day out.
On Sunday 13th June from 10am – 4pm, the college will be opening its gardens and Animal Care Centre to the public giving children and their families the chance to meet its amazing animals including meerkats, exotic birds, lizards, rabbits and many more. The latest additions to the College’s animal kingdom, miniature rescue donkeys Eeoyre and Archie, will also be there to greet guests.
People will be able to take a stroll around the beautiful gardens of Tudor Grange House as well as wander round the historic house itself, which once belonged to the famous Bird family – inventors of Bird’s custard. Green fingered guests will also be able to try their hand at flower arranging.
The fun-filled event will host a barbeque, refreshments, children’s competitions as well as guided tours of the centre and is free of charge to children. Admission for adults is just £3 or £4.50 to include other gardens which will be open in Solihull on the day.
Nigel Smith, Head of School for Land Based Studies at Solihull College comments: “It will be a great day for the whole family with lots of different activities to keep everyone entertained. The day promises to be a community celebration combining history, beautiful gardens and animal displays providing a perfect day for young and old alike.”
Other impressive gardens across the borough will also be open for public viewing on the day. All money raised on the day will be donated to Solihull’s Citizen Advice Bureau offices which provide free, impartial and confidential advice and support to the public.
