Solihull College is celebrating after soaring above the national average for apprentice success rates.
A recent report released by the Learning Skills Council (LSC) has revealed that the success rate for apprentices who trained with the College during 2008/09 is 81% which is above the national average of 64%.
The report is carried out each year to measure the number of apprentices aged 16-24 across the UK who successfully complete their programme and gain qualifications.
Apprenticeships at Solihull College are becoming increasingly popular with over a 20% rise in the number of young people from Birmingham, Solihull and across the West Midlands training with the College since 2007.
A range of programmes run throughout the year and there are still places left on a number of courses designed specifically for those aged between 16-19years including:
- Exercise and Fitness
- Business Administration
- Horticulture
- Early Years
- Hairdressing
- Hospitality
- Retail and Customer Services
Carrie Smith, Senior Director for Workforce Development at the College said:
“We’re thrilled with these results and would like to congratulate all of the hard working apprentices who have achieved their qualifications. We also wish to recognise the contribution of employers participating in apprenticeship schemes through the College. They are giving young people the opportunity to launch their career and at the same time, adding value to their organisation which is great, especially in the current economic climate. We encourage anybody, who has ever considered an apprenticeship to contact us to find out exactly what’s on offer at Solihull College.”
