Where will this course lead?
This course is ideal for you if you work a minimum of 16 hours in a hairdressing/barbering shop.
What will I study?
Shampooing
Health and safety
Client consultation
Blow- drying hair
Cutting techniques
Colouring techniques
You will also be working towards key skills in both Maths and English
How will this course be delivered?
The practical parts of this course will delivered one day a week in the college commercial salons and the other half of the programme involves assignments, external test and portfolio building. You will also have an external assessor to support and assess you in your work place
What qualifications will I get?
NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing (QCF)
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is by practical observations, course work, assignments and external tests.
How do I get a place on the course?
You will be offered a place through an informal interview with a tutor teaching on the course
What are the entry requirements?
You will need to find employment in a salon. Support from the college is available
If you have Learning Difficulty or Disability please let us know when you apply. You will be offered support in your interview. If you need help completing your application we can help with this too.
What else do I need to know?
The level 2 apprenticeship course is a rolling programme this means you can join us at any time of the year.
This course will run at our Blossomfield and Woodlands campus dates are to be confirmed
You will be required as part of the apprenticeship frame work to achieve key skills
Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.
What can I do after this course?
Learners will be qualified to enter industry as a developing stylist. The opportunity to go on to a level 3 course will be available

The course costs are to be confirmed with your employee.
There are costs for level 2 kits and portfolios. These costs are approximates not guaranteed.

Portfolio approximate - £5.00
Dependent upon student skills and ability you may be required to purchase additional training blocks to complete extra training.
We do offer trips and other enrichment activities which you will be informed about by your personal tutor. You will have the opportunity to enter external competitions
