Where will this course lead?
This course is ideal for covering the basic skills you require for working within the Amenity Horticulture sector. All the work covered by this qualification will be carried out under supervision that is why it is necessary for you to be in full time employment in this area.
What will I study?
The different routes available within this apprenticeship are
Production Horticulture
Landscaping
Sports Turf - Greenkeeper
Sports Turf - Groundsman and Parks
Gardens and Green Space
Safe use of Pesticides (PA1 & PA6)
Maths and English will be an important part of your course. You will continue to develop these skills and will work towards a Level 1 qualification. You will also achieve a First Aid certificate.
How will this course be delivered?
You will be visited by your tutor/assessor in your workplace.
What qualifications will I get?
Diploma in Work-based Horticulture (QCF)
How will I be assessed?
The programme will be assessed within your work place via observation. You will also be assessed through coursework, written papers, oral questions and witness statements from your employer/supervisor.
How do I get a place on the course?
You will be required to attend an interview.
What are the entry requirements?
Minimum qualifications for this course are
GCSE grades G and above
A successful interview
Mature students are welcomed.

What else do I need to know?
You must be allocated time to carry out any assessments which will be undertaken at the workplace.

What can I do after this course?
Employment prospects after Level 2 should continue to improve with opportunities to continue to study for Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3. Consider employment in Landscaping, Nursery stock, Garden Centres, Golf Courses and Local Authority.
