Where will this course lead?
This course is aimed at anyone interested in developing their Art & Design skills and for those with a view to progressing onto degree level study.
What will I study?
The course is designed to enable students to experiment within a variety of art and design areas. You will study a number of different skills within art and design, aiming to develop a portfolio of work aimed at higher level applications.
How will this course be delivered?
You will be introduced to a wide range of activities, including: drawing, painting, 3D studies, Graphic Design, Fashion and Textile design, Photography, Life Drawing, Video production and Contextual studies. Working in various studio spaces you will create work, responding to project briefs using a variety of techniques and different media.
What qualifications will I get?
Foundation Diploma in Art and Design (QCF)
How will I be assessed?
Ten units are delivered and assessed throughout the year. The final stage includes an exhibition which is externally assessed.
How do I get a place on the course?
An Interview is required to join this course. In the interview we would like to see a portfolio of your art and design work or hear about your relevant experience and why you feel the course might be right for you.
What are the entry requirements?
Students will normally be expected to have successfully completed As/A2 level studies in Art or a related subject, or to have successfully completed a National Diploma in Art and Design. Applications from mature students without this experience are welcomed.

What else do I need to know?
This is a studio based course, working in a creative, exciting environment. You will be working on practical activities, making art and design work in various workshops with specialist staff and facilities.

What can I do after this course?
On successful completion of the course you will be prepared for degree level education in a specialist area of Art & Design.
Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
Each student may need to purchase some art materials; details will be supplied at the beginning of the course. There will also be optional trips and visits.
