Where will this course lead?
This excellent and exciting course is ideal for you if you enjoy biology and want to study it in more depth. It leads to a qualification that will allow progression to a wide variety of opportunities including medicine, pharmacy, biomedical science and veterinary medicine.
What will I study?

How will this course be delivered?
There will be four taught sessions per week totalling five hours of tuition. The course includes active learning and weekly practical work as aspects of the learning experience.
What qualifications will I get?
GCE A2 Level Biology
How will I be assessed?
There will be a one hour examination paper carrying 30% of the AS marks in January. In the summer there will be a one hour 45 minute paper carrying 50% of the AS marks. Candidates also complete two or three practical tasks set by OCR and marked in college, carrying 20% of the AS marks. The pattern of assessment is similar for A2 biology.
How do I get a place on the course?
A level programme application and interview.
What are the entry requirements?
A-Levels are part of a 2 year full time programme which will require 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, generally from national Curriculum subjects and normally including both English and Mathematics and an average point score of 5. Also a successful interview where we will require current academic references and reports.
Subject specific requirements for Biology include GCSE Grade C or above in Core and Additional Science or single Science Biology, English and Mathematics.
What else do I need to know?
You will be expected to attend all classes punctually and complete homework regularly.

What can I do after this course?
If you are successful on this course, you will be able to continue studying at university or proceed directly to employment.

Students will be required to purchase a recommended text book with CD ROM. A revision guide is also available.
