Where will this course lead?
This course is ideal for you if you wish to pursue a career in medicine, dentistry, science, engineering, technology, architecture, business, teaching, accountancy.
What will I study?
The majority of the course covers Pure Mathematics, which includes use of algebra, trigonometry, co-ordinate geometry and calculus. The remainder of the course is comprised of statistical analysis.
There are 3 modules for each of AS and A2 Mathematics.
AS consists of Core 1, Core 2 and Statistics 1.
A2 consists of Core 3, Core 4 and Statistics 2.

How will this course be delivered?
The course is taught for 5 hours each week and students are expected to spend an equivalent amount of time in private study.
What qualifications will I get?
GCE A2 Level Mathematics (MEI)
How will I be assessed?
Each module is assessed by an examination of 90 minutes. Core 3 has a coursework component worth 20% of that module mark.
How do I get a place on the course?
A level programme application and interview.
What are the entry requirements?
A-Levels are part of a 2 year full time programme which will require 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, generally from national Curriculum subjects and normally including both English and Mathematics and an average point score of 5. Also a successful interview where we will require current academic references and reports.
Subject specific requirements for Mathematics include GCSE Grade B or above in Mathematics at Higher Tier - this includes an entry assessment after 3 weeks. This subject has to be taken with A-Level Mathematics.
What else do I need to know?
There will be tests during induction week and in Week 3 to finalise entry to AS level. Students need to be successful in these tests to proceed with the maths course.

What can I do after this course?
On successful completion of the A level course you can progress onto an appropriate course at university or into suitable employment.
Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
Students will be required to purchase a recommended text book and you will also need a scientific calculator.
