Aspiring students get tips from the top
A host of successful business professionals paid a visit to Solihull College during Global Entrepreneurship Week (16-22 Nov) – a worldwide celebration of enterprise, to share their expert knowledge and tricks of the trade with students.
Throughout the week, students took part in a series of business workshops which have been organised by the College in partnership with Solihull Council to give them a deeper insight into the industry.
The week kicked off with a Female Entrepreneur workshop which saw local business women - including Susie Ankrett who started her own recruitment agency Plum Personnel, giving advice to aspiring female students.
A panel of judges made up of a further five professionals also led a Dragon’s Den style question and answer session giving budding business students the chance to find out how to take the industry by storm.
Beauty Therapy student Faye Ganderton has been inspired by the female entrepreneurs: “I really enjoyed meeting such successful business women, they are really inspiring and have given me some useful tips for the future. I’ve had ideas about running my own beauty business and the advice I got during the session has encouraged me to do something with those ideas when I leave College.”
Business student Camran Karim was also impressed with the question and answer session: “Everybody had different opinions and ideas about the industry which made the session really interesting. I got some invaluable career advice from the professionals too which has defiantly spurred me on to build my own business.”
