Beauty student reaches finals in prestigious competition
A talented Solihull College Beauty Therapy student has secured a place in a high profile national competition.
20-year-old Amy Black has made it to the final stage of the AHT (Association of Hairdressing and Therapists) Awards after dazzling judges with her bridal and catwalk make-up designs in the regional leg of the competition.
The annual Awards are designed to highlight the skills of trainee stylists and beauty therapistsacross the country.
The final, taking place at Blackpool’s popular Winter Garden venue later this month, will see 600 hopeful trainees compete in a range of different categories and is expected to attract more than 5000 visitors.
Amy is made-up to be a part of the prestigious competition: “I had such a good experience at the regionals so now I can’t wait for the nationals. I enjoy doing make up as I can be as creative as I like and try out new techniques. It’s really rewarding being recognised for doing something I love.”
Yvonne Malpass, Head of Hair and Beauty at the College is delighted with the news: “This is a major industry event which gives trainee stylists and therapists the chance to showcase their work. We’re really proud of Amy and wish her the very best of luck, we know she has what it takes to go all the way.”
