Bloomin’ marvellous day at Solihull College
Staff and students at Solihull College welcome international master of floristry onto campus.
One of Holland’s most renowned florists, Elso Post, paid a visit to the Blossomfield campus to share his tips of the trade with a group of Floristry staff and students and give demonstrations of his unique floral designs.
Elso’s masterclass was the first prize awarded to College Floristry Technician Jane Lynch for her entry of the most creative floral arrangement in an international competition run by Deliflor - one of the largest producers of chrysanthemum cuttings worldwide, earlier this year.
Jane comments: “I’m delighted that my design won and it’s great that I’ve been able to share the prize with the rest of the team and our students. Everybody really enjoyed the day and found it to be an invaluable experience.”
As part of the event, the group also created their own versions of Elso’s unique arrangements using their newly learned skills.
Elso who travels the world delivering masterclasses on behalf of Deliflor, adds: “Floristry is a very creative industry and it’s great to see so many enthusiastic florists, both qualified and in training, eager to learn more and try different techniques. For me it has been a very rewarding experience.”
