Where will this course lead?
On successful completion of the Air Cabin Crew & Aviation Operations on the Ground will lead to employment as Cabin Crew or Passenger Service Agent. Students however must secure employment themselves.
What will I study?
You will study a range of subjects relevant to the industry such as:
The Principles of Flight
Working as Cabin Crew
Airline Health, Safety and Security on the Ground and in the air
Ramp Handling and Operations
Aircraft Emergency Situations
Dealing with & Handling Passengers on board an aircraft and on the ground
Cabin Service
Making Passenger Announcements onboard
Aviation Meteorology for Cabin Crew & Ground Staff
Preparation for Employment
How will this course be delivered?
The majority of the time will be in the classroom. However, students will undertake all emergency training at Birmingham and East Midlands Airports. There are also a wide range of guest speakers from the aviation industry as well as undertaking an overseas study visit.
What qualifications will I get?
BTEC National Award in Aviation Operations
How will I be assessed?
To pass this course, students will be assessed by written assignments, pratical activities, role plays, presentations and seminars. There are also industry written exams that will need to be passed.
How do I get a place on the course?
Places are offered by interview only and at least 2 hours must be put aside for group and individual activities.
What are the entry requirements?
Four GCSE's at Grade C or above one of which must be Maths and one English. For students progressing from Travel and Tourism Level 2 a Merit grade would be required.

What else do I need to know?
You will need to dress smartly and wear an appropriate uniform. You will be expected to attend all day trips throughout the year and the residential study visit.
Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.
What can I do after this course?
If you are successful on this course, you will be able to continue studying towards level 3 Advance National Diploma in Travel and Tourism. This will enable you to apply for Higher Education or pursue employment within the Travel and Tourism Industry.
Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
There will be an additional cost of £400 to cover the cost of all trips and travel for the academic year. You will also be required to purchase a uniform details of which will be given upon successful completion of the Welcome Day.
