Where will this course lead?

This course is ideal for you if are interested in working in a theatre environment. The programme covers all aspects of theatre, from performance to developing skills in vocal, acting and dance techniques.

You will have the opportunity to participate in at least three productions to a live audience. You will also benefit from regular visits from practitioners working in industry, trips and backstage tours.

How will this course be delivered?

The majority of this course is taught through practical work and performance. However, you will also have written tasks such as research, presentations and journals which will support your practical work.
The Performing Arts facilities consist of a fully equipped dance studio, drama studio and theatre.

What qualifications will I get?

BTEC Diploma in Performing Arts (QCF)

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed on your practical work, both in sessions and in performance and through your written assignments and coursework.

How do I get a place on the course?

Places are offered by attending an interview and audition.

What are the entry requirements?

Entry requirements for the course are 2 GCSEs at grade D or above, one of which must be English Language, a successful interview and audition.

What else do I need to know?

You will be need to provide all basic stationery including pens, pencils, paper, plastic wallets, folders plus any additional stationery which is required for your course.
You will be required to make a payment towards the costs of trips and visits to a variety of venues.
You will be required to provide suitable practical clothing to include black jazz pants, black jazz shoes.
Solihull College Performing Arts clothing is subject to availability and costs at time of ordering.

What can I do after this course?

If you are successful on the course you could progress on to a Level 3 qualification.

Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?

You will be required to buy a Solihull College Performing Arts uniform. This consists of a T Shirt and/or hoodie that can be worn in practical sessions and backstage during performances.
