Where will this course lead?

This course is ideal for you if are interested in learning about the Media.
This involves an interest in radio, photography, television, advertising and writing about media. It can lead to L3 courses in the college for the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media (Film and Television).

This course is ideal for you if you have recently left school and wish to follow a career in the media or creative industry. You need to show an awareness of the media and read newspapers, magazines and watch a variety of television programmes.

Maths and English will be an important part of your course. You will continue to develop these skills and may work towards a qualification at an appropriate level. Our students work towards English GCSE Grade C and Functional skills in Maths at an appropriate level.

How will this course be delivered?

Half of this course involves practical assignments in making media products for audiences. The other half is theory. The media facilities consist of digital video and photographic equipment and Adobe Premier editing suit.

What qualifications will I get?

Diploma in Creative Media Production (QCF)

How will I be assessed?

To pass this course you will to pass four core units and the four specialist units.

How do I get a place on the course?

You need to attend an interview by the Course Coordinator and Personal tutor.

What are the entry requirements?

Two GCSEs at Grade D, which must include English Language, a successful interview and a good reference from your school.

What else do I need to know?

You do not need a previous qualification in the media, however, it is important that you show excellent interest and engagement with the media once you start the course.
We also like to have 100% attendance and punctuality from you, as we are preparing you for employability.

What can I do after this course?

If you are successful on this course, you will be able to continue studying towards Level 3 in Media, subject to interview and reference.

Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?

Enrichment Activities include trips to the cinema and Blackwell Adventure Park which we will let you know in advance.
No other additional costs involved on the course. You need to bring your notepaper and pen every day.
