Introduction
- This programme is designed to equip you with the knowledge and practical skills needed to meet the needs of modern vehicle industries. The BTEC First Diploma in Motor Vehicle Technology provides the opportunities for learners who intend to progress into Technician roles, as well as those based in the industry and wish to gain an understanding of the sector.
What will be covered in the course?
- You will study 3 core modules: Essential Working Practices Vehicle Electrical and Electronic Principles Engineering Skills for Vehicle Repair Along with the following optional units: Vehicle Engine System Principles Vehicle layout and Operation of Vehicle Systems Vehicle Science and Applied Mathematics Vehicle Component Removal and Refitting Techniques Motorsport Vehicle Inspection Stripping and Rebuilding Motorsport Engines (pre-competition)

Entry Requirements
You will need a GCSE D Grade or above in Math, English, Science or IT.

BTEC First Diploma in Vehicle Technology (Motor Sport)
How is the course assessed?
You be assessed via assignments, both written and practical work.
Additional costs
- Safety footwear and overalls are essential for workshop activities. You will also need a scientific calculator. A reading list will be given to you and you may need to purchase certain books which would be useful for additional study work, as our library have limited numbers.

An Interview is required to join this course. Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.
Next steps
The completion of this course and certification is recognised in the Vehicle repair trades as a Level 2 Mechanic qualification. Progression to BTEC National Diploma leading to Technician status
