Where will this course lead?
This course is ideal for you if you are a 16 - 18 year old school leaver or if you have tried work but would now like to return to education. The course leads to employment in business at a junior level in administration or retail or to a level 3 course.
What will I study?
Various units related to Business from Business Communications to Financial Forecasting and Business Purposes to Starting a Small business.
Maths and English will be an important part of your course. You will continue to develop these skills and may work towards a qualification at an appropriate level; depending upon your personal career goal and past qualifications.
How will this course be delivered?
Students will take part in both theoretical and practical activities individually and in groups during lessons
What qualifications will I get?
BTEC Diploma in Business (QCF)
How will I be assessed?
To pass this qualification you will be assessed by a variety of methods, including:
Role plays, presentations, written reports, displays, creative documents and posters.
Written coursework will need to be produced for GCSE English or Functional Skills literacy. You sit exams for GCSE English and maths and tests for Functional Skills in numeracy and literacy.
How do I get a place on the course?
You will need to have as a successful interview with a course tutor
What are the entry requirements?
Four GCSE's in academic subjects at grade D or above including English or maths, as well as successful completion of diagnostic assessments..

What else do I need to know?
You need to bring pen, notebooks and folders to every lesson. It is expected that you will bring a memory stick to save and back up your work.

What can I do after this course?
The majority of students who are successful on this course progress into work at a junior level or progress onto a level 3 course either in business or other vocational areas.
Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
If you are between 16-18 there are no course fees, but you will need to pay a
£45 contribution towards all vocational trips and activities.
