Where will this course lead?

This course is ideal for you if you have recently left school and wish to follow a career in the Travel and Tourism Industry.

What will I study?

Customer Service
Retail Travel
Health and Safety in a Travel and Tourism context
Tourism Destinations
Work Place Communications

Maths, English and IT will be an important part of your course. You will continue to develop these skills and may work towards a qualification at an appropriate level.

How will this course be delivered?

The majority of time will be in the classroom; however you will get the opportunity to carry out some of your studies by visiting some of the local tourist attractions.

What qualifications will I get?

Diploma in Travel and Tourism (QCF)

How will I be assessed?

To pass this course you will be assessed via practical assignments, course work and some units have online exams, all assessments are set by City and Guilds to a national standard.

How do I get a place on the course?

Places are offered by interview, screening test and attendance and successful completion of the welcome day is essential.

What are the entry requirements?

2 GCSE grades at E or above. Progression from an entry level 3 certificate or above. You will need to have a suitable reference and undertake a successful interview.

What else do I need to know?

You will need to dress smartly and wear an appropriate uniform. Good punctuality, full attendance and organisational skills will be required. You will be expected to attend study visits throughout the year.

What can I do after this course?

If you are successful on this course, you will be able to continue studying towards level 2 in Travel and Tourism

Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?

There will be an additional cost of £110 to cover the cost of study visits. You will also be required to purchase a uniform, details of which will be given upon successful completion of the welcome day.
