Where will this course lead?
This course is particularly suitable for you if you are interested in studying chemistry, pharmacy, medicine, dentistry, forensic science, veterinary medicine, conservation, biochemistry and chemical engineering.
What will I study?
Atomic structure and the Periodic Table
Organic chemistry
Chemical energy
Environmental chemistry
Chemical analysis and drug synthesis (A2)
Transition metals (A2)

How will this course be delivered?
Four taught lessons per week, including at least one practical class in the laboratory.
What qualifications will I get?
GCE AS Level in Chemistry A
How will I be assessed?
External exams in January and May/June: 80% theory, 20% practical skills
How do I get a place on the course?
A level programme application and interview.
What are the entry requirements?
A-Levels are part of a 2 year full time programme which will require 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, generally from national Curriculum subjects and normally including both English and Mathematics and an average point score of 5. Also a successful interview where we will require current academic references and reports.
Subject specific requirements fo rChemistry include GCSE Grade C or above in Core and Additional Science or single Science Biology and Mathematics. (Normally taken with A-Level Mathematics or Maths for Chemists)
What else do I need to know?
Weekly homework assignments and regular progress tests will be set.

What can I do after this course?
Most students progress on to university courses.
