Where will this course lead?
This qualification is aimed at those marketers responsible for managing the marketing process at an operational level. These include those moving into a mid-level marketing position and marketers who are looking to build on knowledge gained at certificate level.
The Professional Diploma in Marketing is ideal for marketers with operational responsibilities and an eye on management including the following:
Marketing executives
Business development managers
Departmental managers
Product/ brand managers
Marketing managers
Account managers
What will I study?
Marketing Planning Process: The role of marketing planning in delivering market strategies; the marketing audit; segmentation, targeting and positioning strategies; adapting marketing planning in different contexts.
Delivering Customer Value Through Marketing: Product proposition and brand management; channel management; managing marketing communications; managing customer's service expectations through the marketing mix.
Managing Marketing: The marketing infrastructure; managing marketing teams; operational finances for marketing.
Project Management in Marketing: Using marketing information to justify marketing projects; building a case for marketing projects; managing risk in marketing projects; project management.
How will this course be delivered?
The course runs over approximately 15 months as standard, but there is a fast-track option to complete in one year. Classes are mainly one evening per week 6.30-9.30pm, but with occasional daytime attendance required also. Classes are interactive, involving tutor's presentation of key concepts, group work and discussion. Students are expected to research marketing concepts and practice, as well as preparing for assignments and exams outside the classroom.

How will I be assessed?
Marketing Planning Process: Work based assignment involving preparing a marketing plan.
Delivering Customer Value Through Marketing: Three hour unseen examination based on pre-seen case material.
Managing Marketing: Work based assignment.
Project Management in Marketing: Work based project studying a specific area of business activity.
How do I get a place on the course?
Places are offered by interview depending on your qualifications / work experience.
What are the entry requirements?
To qualify for this course you will need to meet at least one of these criteria: Hold a Bachelor or Masters degree (or equivalent) where a minimum of one third of the credits come from marketing (ie. 120 credits in Bachelors degrees or 60 credits in Masters Degrees); OR CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing; OR suitable work experience in a marketing management role such that potential students can meet the learning outcomes of the CIM Professional Certificate and is sufficient to pass the Entry Test to Level 6.
If English is not your first language, you will also need to provide evidence of at least IELTS 6.5 or Trinity ISE III/IV.

Successful candidates can progress to the Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing (Level 7)

CIM Membership - £200 per annum. CIM exam fees - £80 per unit (x4). Text books - approx £30 per unit (x4).
