Where will this course lead?
This course is ideal for you if you:
have responsibility for human resource (HR) decision making within an organisation at either operational, tactical or more strategic level
are HR professionals in a team or HR functional management role who are seeking to enhance and develop their career
have responsibilities for the HR function and activities within an organisation without a specialist function
are independent or employed consultants who support organisations in meeting their goals
have HR career and CIPD professional membership aspirations.
What will I study?
During each year of study you will study three modules (subject to alteration) covering a wide range of HR topics. These include:
Year 1 2011-12
Human Resource Management in Context;
Resourcing and Talent Management;
Designing, Delivering and Evaluating the Learning & Development Provision.
Year 2 2012-13
Leading, Managing and Developing People
Employment Law;
Reward Management.
A further module, Developing Skills for Business Leadership, is studied as a spine throughout years 1 and year 2. Following this two year period you will complete a final core module: Investigating a Business Issue from an HR Perspective.
How will this course be delivered?
Sessions contain a combination of individual and group work. This includes discussions, case studies, presentations, debates, research, workshops and tutorials.
What qualifications will I get?
CIPD Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management
How will I be assessed?
To pass this qualification you will attend at least 90% of sessions. The qualification is assessed by two examinations and assignments.
How do I get a place on the course?
Places are offered by interviews only. It may be possible to conduct some interviews over the telephone depending upon your existing qualifications and experience.
What are the entry requirements?
You should have a GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and maths and be educated to degree level. In exceptional circumstances, significant HR experience at strategic level will be considered if you don't have a degree level qualification.

What else do I need to know?
You are required to attend college for six hours a week, attend tutorials arranged with your tutor and undertake at least six hours self directed study each week.
Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.
What can I do after this course?
Students who are successful on this course often progress to gain CIPD Chartered membership or 'top up' to Masters qualifications.

PLEASE NOTE THE COURSE FEE FOR THE WHOLE ACADEMIC YEAR IS £1885 AND COVERS ALL THE COURSES LISTED.

Additionally students must join CIPD. A joining fee of £40 and a subscription of £130 will be payable directly to CIPD at the beginning of the course.
