College Carries Out Church Makeover
Solihull College staff spruce up local church as part of community challenge . . .
College managers, lecturers and office staff have worked tirelessly to restore the overgrown gardens at St John’s Church, Tidbury, as part of the College’s latest staff development day.
The task came about after members of the Church spotted an advert asking for a community project for Solihull College to get involved in. They approached the College and both parties went on to plan and prepare for the makeover.
Vanessa Morris, Princes Trust Programme Leader at the College who led the project comments: “It was a great opportunity to get members of staff involved in a community project such as this, which would usually be undertaken by students on our Princes Trust programme.”
Rev’d Iain Robertson of St John’s adds: “We we’re delighted with the idea of having people from the local College contribute extra energy to our plans. I am pleased to say that the venture has been a complete success. It has been wonderful for us to have this hard working team from the College come and support us with our Church make over.”
Heather Kelman who works in HR at the College enjoyed the challenge “It was a good opportunity to spend time with colleagues from across the College and achieve so much in a short space of time.”
