College teams up with renowned Solihull salon
A group of hairdressers at Roland Klein in Knowle have become the latest to complete the College’s NVQ Level Three in Hairdressing – the highest qualification available to stylists working in the industry.
The group, including salon owner Roland, already have extensive experience in the hairdressing industry with many of them starting their careers at the Birmingham branch of the prestigious Raymond’s Salons, which is most famous for launching Vidal Sassoon’s career.
Roland comments: “We were approached with the opportunity to partake in development with the College and with changes to the government’s workplace policies taking place, we felt it would be a good idea to embark on a modern, work based qualification”
The team completed the NVQ programme in the workplace with a College Assessor visiting them at the salon on a weekly basis.
“The course itself has been very flexible and although the team is very experienced at what they do, I feel this additional qualification highlights their passion and commitment to the hairdressing industry.” Roland adds.
Roland Klein has been a distinctive feature on Knowle High Street for the past nine years after salon owners, husband and wife Roland and Pauline, chose to relocate the salon from New Road in Solihull Town Centre. They pride themselves on excellent customer service and apply a unique combination of traditional and modern hairdressing techniques.
Roland says: “Hairdressing is an ever expanding and creative industry and we are pleased to have such a great team of stylists who each have their own specialities. Hairdressing today is about recreating traditional techniques and styles with modern tools and products and that is something we have embraced here at Roland Klein.”
