College welcomes Director of Employment and Skills
Solihull College appoints Senior Director of Employment and Skills to help give businesses a boost. . .
Shaun Hindle has taken up the position with the College to lead on employer engagement and further develop training initiatives that meet the needs of businesses across the region.
Heading up the College’s Employer Services team, Shaun aims to place the College as an outstanding training provider in the business world. “The College has a lot to offer to employers and their companies and I’m really looking forward to driving the organisation forward in the business sector.” He comments.
Shaun brings with him a wealth of knowledge having worked in employer services at Stafford and Yeovil Colleges, as an Executive of the Yeovil Chamber of Commerce and also a Director for the Somerset Chamber of Commerce, but it was during his time working at a factory in Stafford that first sparked his interest for workforce development: “Before I stepped into the FE sector, I worked as a Manufacturing Director in a local factory. I remember wanting to help develop my staff even further in their roles but didn’t really know how to access the support or outlet that would help do this. I’d say that was how I became interested in workforce development.” Not long after this Shaun joined Stafford College specialising in providing IT training packages along with developing new projects to support the needs of businesses.
Shaun’s time at Yeovil College some years later saw him work on a number of high profile projects such as developing bespoke programmes for staff at the region’s main NHS Hospital and numerous Primary Care Trust Centres: “At that time, we were the only external training provider working with all the NHS trusts in Somerset which was a great coup for the college. As the initiative rolled out to centres across the region, I decided that I wanted to face new challenges which is when I decided to make the move to Solihull. I certainly left Yeovil on a high.”
Shaun started his position at Solihull College earlier this month and is settling in well to his new surroundings: “The FE sector is going through times of uncertainty at present with numerous government changes but I’m 100% confident in the opportunities that we, as a College, have to offer to the local and wider business community. The work that the Employer Services Team has done so far has been outstanding and I’m really looking forward to my future here at Solihull College.”
The College’s Employer Services team works closely with employers and employees across the West Midlands providing relevant and flexible training solutions. It also offers a range of advice and development opportunities to the unemployed.
