With all the supporting tools gained throughout the course. I now, before any task which I’m nervous of on taking, I subconsciously judge what level I am on my Perception-o-meter; then lift myself up three or four levels and approach with a higher level of confidence.
Carl Holdback, SAIC Motor UK Technical Centre Ltd.
This course gave me an interesting insight into how to view presentations from the audience perspective and therefore, how to include activities and learning techniques that will hold their interest and attention. Clare talked us through various NLP techniques to help calm nerves and overcome the natural fears that come when presenting. In fact, it was such a fascinating subject that I left the day wishing that it was a two day course so I could learn more. I’m looking forward to putting this knowledge into practice.
Susan Steel, Cascade Approach Limited
The day was more along the lines of ‘Confidence Building’ and we looked at different aspects from different speakers/interviewers. It was an informative day and I really enjoyed it.
Liz Cotter, West Midlands Fire Service
"I attended the Present & Communicate with Confidence course in November 2009. I was invited to participate in this course by our L&D department as someone who is now having to undertake many presentations at a senior level and sometimes would struggle with nerves affecting my performance. To be honest, I was expecting a course that ran through the basic academics of what makes a good presentation and to learn what should be included in PowerPoint slides and having attended many courses like that, was not expecting to achieve very much from the day.
However, I was delighted that this was not a course that concentrated on process and procedure of presentations but focused on developing and improving personal confidence in order to be able to communicate more effectively in many forums, presentations being most people's personal dread.
Clare made the attendees feel very comfortable from entering the room, the ambience was relaxed and informal and this is important in encouraging people to open up with their fears in order to then try to conquer them. The environment felt very safe and the participants, a couple of whom were very shy, were soon talking quite openly, though I have no doubt this was due to the excellent facilitating skills of Clare.
The exercises the group were asked to undertake, had they been explained to me prior to attending, would probably brought on a panic but they were structured in such a way and timed so well as to flow and feel natural and again the relaxed, safe environment helped tremendously. In the afternoon, we looked at NLP and how to use this and although I was aware of NLP from previous courses, the manner in which this was covered by Clare and the techniques she taught in order to help us to put this into practice, made it a useful tool that I now think about as part of my job every day.
I feel that the course assisted my confidence greatly and I use the techniques regularly in combating my nerves and fears before chairing potentially difficult meetings and presenting to my Directors. My Line Manager (Director of Business Services at PDSA), also agrees that this course made a very positive difference to my performance and stated that I have visibly grown in confidence since undertaking this training session.
I would recommend this course to anyone who like myself, knows the correct manner in which a presentation/meeting should be conducted but where one's confidence is the thing that stands in the way of ensuring that you are consistently communicating confidently and effectively and performing to your full potential every time."
Victoria Griffiths, PDSA
The course provides lots of useful information and tips on appearing confident and presenting yourself. I use techniques such as projecting a positive image through dress and positive language on a daily basis, and found advice and techniques on combating nerves and anxieties really useful in interview and stressful situations. In fact, since attending the course I have obtained internal promotion using Clare’s techniques to interview better and feel more confident in my abilities.
