Where will this course lead?
This course is ideal for beginners or for those with some experience; it makes an excellent refresher to help you improve your cookery skills.
What will I study?
The courses are in 5 week blocks:-
How to Cook the Basics
Entertaining at Christmas
Healthy Eating
Delicious Dinner Parties
Indian and Chinese Cookery
Italian and Al Fresco Entertaining
How will this course be delivered?
Practical class based work lead by tutor demonstration, recipes with ingredients listed are given out the week before. Sessions take place in a classroom kitchen.
What qualifications will I get?
Non-externally-certificated non-FE other provision, Hospitality and Catering SSA (07.4)
How will I be assessed?
This course is for personal development and is informally assessed by the Tutor with self assessment and evaluation by the student.

What are the entry requirements?
Students must be aged 16+.
If you have Learning Difficulty or Disability please let us know when you apply. You will be offered support in your interview. If you need help completing your application we can help with this too.
What else do I need to know?
The tutor will inform you on the first session or prior to it of any ingredients and equipment that are required.
Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.
What can I do after this course?
Try another 5 week cookery course, or our Family Cookery programme. We also offer Sugarcraft Flowers, Cake Decorating and Family Food Hygiene. We also offer a range of other courses, including Floristry, Jewellery and Digital Photography.
Commercial accreditation is available at the College of Food in Birmingham
Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
Students are responsible for providing their own ingredients and some equipment.
