After successfully completing this course, students could progress to the BTEC Extended Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
The units that will be studied may include:
- Mathematics for Engineering Technicians
- Engineering Drawing
- Electrical and Electronic Principles
- Electronic Devices and Circuits
- Mechanical Principles
The course involves classroom theory and practical sessions in the well-equipped electronic laboratory.
Please note: For September 2017 all current BTEC qualifications are being revised and some content may change.
Assessment is mainly via course work and practical assignments.
Places are offered after an interview for candidates who have/are expected to achieve the entry requirements
Either 4 GCSE passes at grade A*/9 - C/4 to include Maths and preferably English and science, or a relevant Level 2 Diploma in Engineering at a Merit or Distinction grade. Also a good reference or school report and a successful interview.
You need to provide pens, paper and a scientific calculator.
You could progress to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering for another year or find Apprenticeship/employment.
