The BTEC Level 3 90-credit Diploma in Business is the right step towards a career in several business related jobs. It is a vocational programme which is built around practical work, and considers many aspects of different elements of business. It is equivalent to one and half A levels, and on successful completion students can make a decision to whether to progress to an Extended level 3 Diploma or to seek employment in a business organisation.

The course team will select a number of optional units from a bank of 46 to allow students to accumulate a combined total of 90 credits, which are required to obtain the qualification. Units such as Business Accounting, Creative Product Promotion, Aspects of Contracts and Business Law, Starting a Small Business, Business and the Economic Environment, Understanding Retailing, and International Business will be considered by the course team when selecting optional units.
The BTEC 90 credit Diploma is a practical work-related course. Students learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations. The course is delivered by a combination of formal taught lessons, workshops, tutorials and group activities in a classroom based environment.

All units are internally assessed and graded. An overall grade is awarded to those who successfully complete all units. Grades awarded are Pass, Merit or Distinction.
The assessment approach of the BTEC qualifications in Business allows students to receive feedback on their progress throughout the course as they provide evidence towards the assessment and grading criteria. Evidence for assessment may be generated through a range of diverse activities including assignment and project work, case studies, and presentation. The course complies with the requirements of the Qualifications and Credits Framework (QCF).

You will then be invited to have as an interview with a course tutor.
You will need 5 GCSE's at C/4 grade or above which must include maths and English, or BTEC Level 2 qualification at merit or above, with GCSE English and maths at grade C or above. You will be interviewed by a member of the course team and you will be expected to bring a reference.
You need to bring pen, notebooks and folders to every lesson. It is expected that you will bring a memory stick to save and back up your work.
You will need to pay £45 which is a contribution to participating in study visits. You will need to buy appropriate stationery and text books to help you study.
Good levels of English and Maths are important for your success in your course, your chosen vocation and life. Throughout your course you will continue to develop your English and Maths skills in your vocational classes.
If you haven't achieved an A*/9 - C/4 grade in English or Maths at GCSE, or a Level 2 Functional Skill, you will also be working towards a qualification in English or Maths at a level that will enable you to progress towards these grades.

Successful completion of the course will allow students to progress to the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business, which is equivalent to 3 A levels. On completion of the L3 Extended Diploma students can enter higher education to a business related degree, or to find work in a business organisation. Students will also have the knowledge and skills to start their own business.
