This is a two year course which leads to higher education, a degree apprenticeship, a level 4 apprenticeship or into employment.
During the first year you will study:
- Fundamentals of IT
- Global Information
- Virtual and augmented reality
- Project Management
- Product development
- Media products and audiences
- Create a digital animation
- 3D digital modelling
After successfully completing the first year you will study:
- Mobile technology
- Social media, digital marketing and globalisation
- Internet of Everything
- Pre-production and planning for media
- Create a media product
- Interactive media product
- Game development
This course consists of practical and theoretical sessions culminating in either assignments or examinations depending on the unit. Employer involvement is an essential part of the course so you will have external speakers who are actively involved in the industry.
At the end of the first year you will get:
- OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma (Emerging Digital Technician Practitioner.)
At the end of the course you will also have achieved:
- OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Foundation Diploma (Emerging Digital Technician Practitioner.)
- OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Foundation Diploma (Digital media)
- Units working towards content related CISCO Internet of Everything Certificate.
In the first year Fundamentals of IT, Global Information units and Media products and audiences are assessed by formal examinations set and marked by OCR.
In the second year Pre-production and planning unit is assessed by formal examination and marked by OCR.
All other units are assessed by assignments set and marked by the College.
You can get a place on the course by completing an application form or applying on line for an interview. Applicants are invited for an interview with a member of the School of Computing.
A PASS or higher at Level 2 OCR Diploma or BTEC extended certificate and English GCSE at grade C or higher and Mathematics GCSE at grade C or higher or 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (or grade C) or higher including English and Mathematics.
You will need a data stick, pens, pencils, lined A4 paper and an A4 lever arch file for your work for the examined units.
The course is recognised by industry and higher education and carries UCAS points.
During the first year there are no additional costs apart from supplying a data stick, pens, pencils and lined A4 paper.
