Where will this course lead?

Our Level 2 Diploma is designed to equip students with an overall knowledge of Public Services to give you the skills you need to apply, with conviction, your knowledge to any route you choose to take, in any sector of the Public Services industry.

You will observe theoretical and practical assessments along with modules including fitness, sports, employment and adventure activities. This qualification won't directly lead you in to a job in the sector but will be a qualification looked on very favourably by potential employers as good preparation.

What will I study?

You will study a range of academic and practical subjects as detailed below.

-Uniformed Public service Employment
-Public Service Skills
-Uniformed Public Service Fitness
-Adventurous Activities & Teamwork for the Public services
-Expedition Skills
-Sport & Recreation

Maths, English and IT will be an important part of your course. You will continue to develop these skills and may work towards a qualification at an appropriate level.

How will this course be delivered?

The majority of the time will be in the classroom. However, you will also be active in attending outdoor recreation centres, participating in adventure training.

Sport and outdoor recreation is an important part of the curriculum in developing your health & fitness and developing your confidence in working with your peers and instructors. You will use the newly developed indoor sports hall and gymnasium on Blossomfield Campus

What qualifications will I get?

Please note: For September 2017 all current BTEC qualifications are being revised and some content may change.

How will I be assessed?

To pass this course you will complete assignments throughout the year. Assignments will include project work, training sessions, essays & reports, role-plays and practical fitness and teamwork sessions.

How do I get a place on the course?

Places are offered by interview and attendance of a welcome day.

What are the entry requirements?

2 GCSE grades at D/3 or above. Progression from a level 2 course or above. You will need to have a suitable reference and undertake a successful interview.

What else do I need to know?

You will need to dress smartly and wear an appropriate uniform. You will be expected to attend residential trips during the autumn and summer term.

There will be a cost of £60* (for students that do not meet the criteria for student finance support) to cover the cost of trips, residential and travel for the academic year.

In addition you will also be required to purchase a uniform before the start of the course.

What can I do after this course?

Upon successful completion of this course and a progress interview, you may move onto the Level 3 course.
