Where will this course lead?

This course is ideal for you if you want to follow an academic path into the motor vehicle industry or continue to university to study motor vehicle engineering.

What will I study?

During the course you will study the following areas both theoretically and practically:

- Health & Safety in the industry
- Engineering practices in motor vehicle
- Chassis Components (braking, suspension and steering)
- Engines and Components
- Vehicle Electrics and electronics
- Vehicle Construction
- Science and mathematics for engineering
- Business studies

How will this course be delivered?

The course involves practical assessments in the motor vehicle workshop and the theories in the classroom.

What qualifications will I get?

Please note: For September 2017 all current BTEC qualifications are being revised and some content may change.

How will I be assessed?

To pass this course you will complete individual practical tasks and complete written assignments. You can achieve pass, merit, or distinction grades.

How do I get a place on the course?

Places are offered by interview and an initial assessment.

What are the entry requirements?

Minimum qualifications:

Mathematics and English language at GCSE grade C/4 or above or equivalent and a relevant full level 2 motor vehicle qualification.

What else do I need to know?

The course only takes place at our Woodlands campus.

Good levels of English and Maths are important for your success in your course, your chosen vocation and life. Throughout your course you will continue to develop your English and Maths skills in your vocational classes.

If you haven't achieved an A*/1 - C/4 grade in English or Maths at GCSE, or a Level 2 Functional Skill, you will also be working towards a qualification in English or Maths at a level that will enable you to progress towards these grades.

What can I do after this course?

If you are successful on this course, you will be able to continue on to BTEC level 3 National Diploma in vehicle technology.
