Where will this course lead?
This qualification is for individuals already working in the health and fitness industry as Fitness Instructors, Group Exercise Instructors, or Personal Trainers, who wish to improve their knowledge and skills to enable them to deliver Group Studio Resistance sessions.
What will I study?
How to design and teach safe and effective studio resistance training sessions to a group of people
The principles of warm up, the aerobic curve and cool down
Working to music
Motivating participants
A variety of group teaching skills
How will this course be delivered?
A variety of theoretical and practical sessions will be delivered in order to build on your current knowledge and skills. The course will focus on developing and improving your instructing skills in order to teach a group of people through a studio based resistance session.
What qualifications will I get?
Award in Studio Resistance Training (QCF)
How will I be assessed?
Portfolio of written plans.
Observation of instructing skills in a practical assessment.
How do I get a place on the course?
Applications should be made via the Exercise and Fitness Application Pack available from the College Call Centre. You will then be invited in for an interview and screening test for the course you have chosen.
What are the entry requirements?
Applicants MUST have a Level 2 Fitness Instructing (GYM or ETM) Qualification.
Applicants must be 18 years old to join the course.
Good communication skills are essential.

What else do I need to know?
Successful applicants will be required to purchase a course manual.
Successful applicants are also expected to wear appropriate exercise clothing for the course.

What can I do after this course?
You will be able to teach group studio resistance based classes within the health and fitness environment.
