Daniel scores success
Solihull College football student scores triumph after being called up for national squad.
17-year-old Daniel Dineen has been selected among 22 of the country’s best young players to represent England in the English College’s Football Association (ECFA) national squad.
Sport student Daniel, who is also enrolled on the College’s Football Development Scheme, took part in three regional trials before being chosen for the final team and recently played his first game against Australia in which his team enjoyed a 3-2 defeat.
Daniel, who plays centre half, comments: “My tutor Mickey Moore encouraged me to go for try outs and I’m really glad I did. This will open up new opportunities for me and put me in good stead for when I leave College. It’s a great feeling representing my country in a sport I love doing.
The ECFA team is made up of College students aged 19 and under from across the country.
Football tutor Mickey Moore adds: “This is a great achievement and we’re really proud of Daniel. He is truly talented player and has a very successful future ahead of him.”
