The Foundation Degree in Applied Biosciences has been written in conjunction with leading employers in the region, including two NHS trusts, and Oxford Brookes University.  It serves to train students with the necessary skills and knowledge to fill significant skills gaps within the sector.  During both years of the Foundation Degree in Applied Biosciences, students will be able to undertake work placements within the pathology labs of NHS hospitals, with a number of existing students securing paid employment within these laboratories during the course of their studies.

Following the completion of a Foundation Degree in Applied Biosciences, students can choose to top-up their qualification to a full BSc honours degree in Applied Biosciences with one further year of full time study.  Alternatively, they may choose to apply for positions within the laboratories they undertook their work placements in or with other employers in the sector.

All of our science courses allow you to study in our newly refurbished science laboratories with brand-new, industry standard resources.  Higher Education students in science also benefit from the specialist life science laboratory which was specifically developed for use in training staff for roles in clinical life-science laboratories such as those found in NHS hospitals.
