Where will this course lead?
The course is designed to develop a student's skills and knowledge to enable them to run a successful business of their own or make a significant contribution to a larger, established business.
If the applying student has already a clear business idea and the necessary skills s/he will complete the course in 1 year. If the applicant has yet to develop a clear business idea or needs more time to develop their skills then s/he will complete the course over 2 years.
What will I study?
The programme is built around supporting you in setting up and running a micro business for a period of at least four months. You'll learn about business planning and finance, and how to set up a supply chain, communicate with your customers, monitor the performance of your business, and plan for future expansion. You'll also learn more about yourself, and how to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. You'll interact with both national and local entrepreneurs, working on a range of business challenges. You will have the opportunity to work closely with a local business, spending time in a number of different departments, and working on real business issues agreed with the employer.

Through assignments, running the micro business and completion of the challenges.
How do I get a place on the course?
Each applicant will be invited in to attend a Briefing meeting with their parents/guardians to explain this course.
What are the entry requirements?
For 1 year intensive course minimum of 1 GCSE in English and / or Maths at C and above plus 3 more GCSEs at C or above (or equivalent). Also must demonstrate, at interview, a clear idea of what micro business the applicant will run.
For 2 year course 2 GCSEs at C or above (or equivalent) with English and Maths GCSE grades at D or above. Must also show the drive and determination to run a business even if unclear about what business

Solihull College offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.

Employment, either by self or with larger enterprise or University.
Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
£45 contribution at the start of the year towards trips, no further monies will be asked for.
