Where will this course lead?

This course is ideal for you if you have recently left school and want take the first steps towards a career in the sport and leisure industry with a football coaching pathway. You will develop the knowledge and skills needed for jobs in the coaching industry with extended knowledge and skills to move onto a level 3 sport course.

What will I study?

Subjects such as:

- Anatomy and Physiology
- Fitness Testing and Training
- Practical Sport
- Nutrition for Sports Performance
- Planning and leading sports activities
- Technical Skills and Tactical Awareness for Sport
- Planning and Running a Sports Event
- Opportunity to gain accredited Additional Coaching Qualifications


Maths, English and IT will be an important part of your course. You will continue to develop these skills and may work towards a qualification at an appropriate level.

How will this course be delivered?

The course will be divided between practical and classroom work, where learners will gain a good practical application and theoretical understanding of Football related subjects.

What qualifications will I get?

NVQ in Sport, Recreation and Allied Occupations: Coaching, Teaching, Instructing

How will I be assessed?

To pass this course you will need to complete a variety of assessments such as:

- Practical assignments,
- Role plays,
- Course work
- Presentations
- Direct Observation/ Video Observation
- Online assessments
- Varying media assessments

How do I get a place on the course?

Places are offered following a successful interview and a reference.

What are the entry requirements?

Four GCSE's at Grade D or above including one in English

What else do I need to know?

Successful applicants will need to purchase college logo kit to be worn during practical lessons. Further payment will also be required to pay for any intended trips and visits.

What can I do after this course?

If you are successful on this course, you will be able to continue studying towards level 3 in Sport. There is also a possibility to gain football coaching work using your Coaching Certificate level 2.
