Introduction
- Are you interested in computer games and how they are created? Do you want to follow a career in the computer games industry? Do you like you thinking about creative ways of solving problems? If the answer to these questions is yes then this could be the course for you. You will study a specialist creative media course in games development (the equivalent of 1 "A" level) alongside a software development course (the equivalent of 2 "A" levels).
What will be covered in the course?
- For the Games Development course you will carry out assignments based around a fictitious games development company. You will be assessed continually over the two years and the results will be moderated by the examining board. There are 7 units for this Subsidiary Diploma which are: Pre-production Techniques for the Creative Media Industries Communication skills for creative Media Production Research Techniques for the Creative Computer Game Platforms and Technologies Flash for Computer Games Computer Game Engines Computer Game Design Additionally students who have not yet achieved grade C in GCSE English are required to attempt grade improvement following suitable tuition during the first year Study trips are included.

Entry Requirements
To join this course, you must have the following: Either: At least four GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths' Plus a successful college interview and a good report from your current tutor, or by recommendation from tutors following a BTEC First Diploma for IT Practitioners course, plus a Distinction or Merit grade.

How is the course assessed?
You will be assessed continually by unit assignments. These are externally moderated by the examining body
Additional costs
- You will be need to provide all basic stationary including pens, pencils, paper, plastic wallets, folders plus any additional stationary which is required for your course. No academic fees for age 16 to 18. A contribution of £25 is required toward the cost of study visits in the year.

- Study Hours - 18-20 hours per week Class times - 9am-5pm Days - Mon - Fri
