Where will this course lead?
The course is suitable for anyone over 18 who has recently completed an Extended Diploma in Art and Design (Fine Art) or a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. The course is suitable for those wishing to study Fine Art at a higher level and prepare for a career in the arts.
What will I study?
Fine Art Practice - Drawing, Painting, 3D/installation and Development of Fine Art Language, Contextual Studies and
Professional Practice.
How will this course be delivered?
The course is delivered through various assignments that cover 240 credits over 2 years. These will be taught through seminars, workshops and tutorials. The course is a full time programme.
What qualifications will I get?
BTEC HND Diploma in Fine Art (QCF)
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is via practical assignment work, presentations and essays. Assessments will take place regularly throughout the course. Work will be assessed internally and then externally examined and moderated.
How do I get a place on the course?
To start the application process you will need to register with UCAS via the UCAS website (www.ucas.co.uk) and you will need to use the following UCAS codes on your application: Institution code: S26 and Course code:001W. Places are offered by interview and you will need to bring a current portfolio of work.
What are the entry requirements?
One of the following -
BTEC National Diploma or Extended Diploma in Art and Design (Fine Art) or related area at Merit grade or above
Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Merit grade or above
A suitable Access to HE course in Art & Design
A And a strong portfolio of work
Mature students, who do not meet these academic qualifications, will have relevant work or life experience taken into consideration. All students need to be able to demonstrate competency in English and Maths, possess suitable references and have a successful College interview.

What else do I need to know?
During the course you will be required to go on external visits to galleries and exhibitions suitable for your area of study.
You will be required to purchase materials you will require during your two years of study.

What can I do after this course?
After completing the course it course can lead you on to a career within the arts, for example, a practicing artist, gallery work, arts within the health environment. You may be able to progress onto a degree level programme.
Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?
You will need to purchase all your art materials necessary. There are a number of visits to relevant exhibitions through the duration of the course which will incur costs.
