Football team scores triumph
Solihull College’s Recreational football team scored triumph yesterday after beating Birmingham Metropolitan College 9-2.
The team - made up of students studying various courses at the College, played the opposing team at the Glades football centre (Solihull) as part of the West Midlands Regional Colleges’ league and after being 2-1 down by half time, made an impressive come back.
Aaron Pinnock secured the team’s first goal from 25 yards and followed with a further three goals in the second half. Shane Lucas scored a hatrick while Galal Saeed and Ryan Smyth also contributed to the 9 goal defeat.
Mo Raza, Team Coach, was delighted with the result: “After a few errors in the first half leading to Birmingham Met conceding two goals in quick succession, we pulled it back and made an excellent come back. This was our third game in the league and so far things are looking good for us, I’m really pleased with the team’s performance.”
Next week the team will be playing away against Joseph Chamberlain College.
