Solihull College is one of only 14 Colleges nationwide offering a new government programme to enable unemployed people to take a short course in a chosen career. OUR FREE SHORT COURSES STARTING SOON will give those receiving Jobs Seekers Allowance an opportunity to sample an area of work that they would ultimately like to work in.

- Aged 19+
- Claiming Job Seekers Allowance
- Unemployed for more than 6 months

Course areas are as follows:
Retail
The retail programme provides an insight into the skills to work in the retail sector whilst enhancing your professional skills. This will enable you to provide a high standard of service plus increase job satisfaction and confidence.
Airport Environment
The course will provide you with an introduction into working within the Aviation industry.
Care
The course will provide you with with an introduction into working within Health and Social Care industry.
Motor Vehicle
An introduction to Motor Vehicle Skills and Technology.
IT
This is an introduction into IT. You will be progress onto advanced courses.
Barbering
You will develop skills and underpinning knowledge in relation to barbering.
Leisure
Introduction to Sports Leadership and Coaching skills course.
Hospitality
Introduction to Hospitality including Customer Service, Health & Safety, Food Hygiene and Employment Legislation.
Business Management
Business Management covering Marketing, Sales, Business Finance, Human Resources, basic IT Word & Excel.
Horticulture
Suitable for people who are looking to work within the Horticulture sector
