Where will this course lead?
This course is ideal for you if you wish to gain an understanding of the science behind the Human body and the qualification will allow you to progress onto a Level 3 science course as well as teacher training courses for Primary Education.
What will I study?
You will have in depth understanding of:
Cells and tissues
Digestive, Reproductive and Nervous systems
Genetics & Genetic engineering
Pathogens & Disease
The Immune Response
Cancer & its treatments
21st Century Health
In addition, students will conduct practical experiments in the laboratory under supervision & in strict accordance with College's Health & Safety policies.

How will this course be delivered?
Approximately 75% of the lessons will be lecture-based and the remainder 25% will be laboratory sessions.
What qualifications will I get?
GCSE in Human Health and Physiology
How will I be assessed?
One 2 hour written paper set by the awarding body (AQA) comprising of 75% of the total marks.
One 45 min written exercise based on the student's own experimental work - this is internally assessed coursework worth 25% of the final mark.
How do I get a place on the course?
Places are offered by interview and an initial assessment test.
What are the entry requirements?
No formal qualifications are required, although an interest in science and work experience in the science industry will greatly enhance your chances of passing the diagnostic test.
