Where will this course lead?
This course would be suitable for students who would like to work in a salon as an assistant. The course would also be ideal for students who would like a career change as it will give a good introduction to hairdressing.
What will I study?
Health and safety
Contribute to the development of effective working
Shampoo and condition hair
Prepare for hair services and maintain work areas
Assist with salon reception duties
Blow dry hair
How will this course be delivered?
The practical elements of this course will be delivered in the college commercial salons and the other half of the programme involves assignments, external tests and portfolio building
What qualifications will I get?
NVQ Certificate in Hairdressing and Barbering (QCF)
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is by practical observations, course work, assignments and external tests.

What can I do after this course?
Most learners who are successful on this course will progress to level 2 NVQ hairdressing or barbering either full time or part time in college
