Where will this course lead?

This course is ideal for you if you want to explore the past and gain a greater understanding of the evolution of British society and the origins of the German Empire.

A Level History can open the way to a variety of careers such as Teaching, Journalism, Law, Politics and Policing.

How will this course be delivered?

The course will be delivered using a variety of methods, such as interactive white board sessions; source analysis and historical case studies.

You will study History for 5 hours per week over 5 days as one part of an AS or A2 programme. Classes generally run between 9am-5pm but may vary. Timetables will be given to all students during enrolment and induction week.

How will I be assessed?

To pass this course you will have 2 written exams at AS Level and at A2 assessment consists of 1 exam and a 3,500 word research assignment.

What are the entry requirements?

A-Levels are part of a 2 year full time programme which will require 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, generally from national Curriculum subjects and normally including both English and Mathematics and an average point score of 5. Also a successful interview where we will require current academic references and reports.

Subject specific requirements for History include GCSE Grade C or above in English. (also GCSE History would be desirable)

What else do I need to know?

Students will be required to buy two accompanying text books for the course.

What can I do after this course?

History a Level enables you to progress to university. Many career opportunities exist for successful candidates; such as teaching, Law and the police force.

Is there anything else I will have to pay for in order to do this course?

Students will be required to purchase the recommended text books.

All students will be required to make set contributions towards educational trips and/or travel expenses to local universities for master classes.
